Okefenokee Swamp, Georgia. Because of wildfires and drought, I had not been able to take a trip to the Okefenokee Swamp located in Georgia. The swamp is the largest "blackwater" swamp in the United States. This is due to the high peat content, which creates a rich black tannic acid. Because to the near blackness of the water, the reflections along the canal are near mirror perfect. It is quite amazing to be kayaking or canoeing all day among the alligators, not setting foot on dry land for days on end.
