Lower Brewers Mills Lock Station 45 Stock Photos. Kingston Photographer Ernie Hunter has just published a new page of Lower Brewers Mills Lock Station 45 photography.A malaria infested area hastened the building of this lock, which led to serious problems and reconstruction later on. Colonel McLean, who owned the mill, wasn't keen on the canal and flooded the site on numerous occasions. Colonel Bye had to post guards to keep control, but eventually purchased the mill. As much work as could be done was done in winter and spring to avoid the malaria. Wooden flooring was used instead of inverted stone arches, causing constant repair for many years.
