Koala Conservation. Some populations of koalas in northern New South Wales, in Australia, are under threat from habitat reduction, disease and attack from introduced species such as dogs. The animals feed exclusively on eucalypt leaves and spend much of their lives in the high branches of gum trees. There are groups of people dedicated to caring for any koalas who are injured or sick.
