Galapagos Islands. The Galapagos Islands are a UNESCO World Heritage site administered by Ecuador.There are a total of 19 islands and 18 major islands.They are situated in the Pacific Ocean 906 km (563 mi) off the coast of Ecuador. The islands have a large number of endemic species. Five islands are inhabited: Baltra, Floreana, Isabela,San Cristobel and Santa Cruz with a population of approximately 25000 people.
